Supporting Women's Entrepreneurship
Case Study — Nida Al‑Khadra Ali Fashashi: In a journey marked by determination and ambition, entrepreneur Nida Al‑Khadra Ali Fashashi began her activity with small steps, selling traditional veils (or headscarves) and some women's clothing, seeking to build an independent income source and develop herself. With a passion for expansion, she moved into electronic marketing and launched the “Aswaq Aden” platform, offering advertising services to retail shops. The path was not easy; she relied on public transportation between markets and districts of Aden, which burdened her and affected her punctuality and the number of advertisements she could execute.
Aden Islamic Bank for Microfinance played a pivotal role by providing financing to purchase a vehicle with facilitated collateral, which helped her ease mobility, increase productivity, and reach a larger customer base. As her business improved, the project expanded significantly: she developed the “Aswaq Aden” application into a comprehensive directory of services and commercial activities and established a full team including photographers, an accountant, and a designer.
The Bank’s support continued with subsequent financings for a high‑end smartphone to control operations more efficiently and for a solar power system for her office, providing a stable and sustainable work environment. Today, Nida is an inspiring model for women entrepreneurs and a success story demonstrating how appropriate financing can make a real difference in individuals’ lives and projects.
